PURPOSE

The Black Women in Business Scholarship was established in 2016. The mission of the scholarship is to provide financial assistance to minority females enrolled for undergraduate study in community colleges, and universities. The Scholarship principally targets two and four-year academic programs.

FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE

Financial assistance is based on academic performance, leadership potential, and participation in community volunteer hours.

SCHOLARSHIP AWARDS

The Black Women in Business Austin Chapter Executive Team conducts a comprehensive process review of each application. The areas reviewed by the committee include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Academic Accomplishments

  • Community Service

  • Personal Essay

Scholarship funds are paid directly to the recipient.

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA

  • Applicants must be minority female students

  • Applicants must be a permanent resident of the United States.

  • Applicants must be completing or have completed high school successfully with a minimum unweighted GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale prior to the fall 2018 college semester starting.

  • Applicants must be accepted as a full-time student at a college, university, or trade school program for the upcoming academic semester.

TIMELINE

  • Applicants must complete and submit a Scholarship Application postmarked by Tuesday, May 1, 2018

  • Applicants are notified if awarded a scholarship by May 21, 2018.

APPLICATION PROCESS

  • Completed application.

  • Official high school transcript OR

    Letter from the principal or counselor with contact information on official letterhead verifying the applicant’s GPA.

  • Letter of acceptance from the college or university OR

    Proof of enrollment if available at the time of scholarship application. If not available, applicant must provide these details before the start of the Fall 2018 semester.

APPLICATION

Complete the application in it’s entirety. Upload required documents and submit the application to be considered for the scholarship. You can also print the application and mail to:
